Software Version 7.04 available for GTX 23, GTX 33(D)(ES)(H), and GTX 330(D)(ES) products (not applicable to G900X, G950, G1000, Cirrus Perspective®, or Embraer Prodigy™ installations)

PRODUCTS AFFECTED

This bulletin is applicable to GTX 23, GTX 33(D)(ES)(H), & GTX 330(D)(ES) units with Software Version

7.03 or previous software versions not installed in a Garmin Integrated Flight Deck system (G1000, G1000H, G950, G900X, Cirrus Perspective™, and Embraer Prodigy® Integrated Flight Deck Systems). The GTX 330(D)(ES) current software version is displayed at power up, on the unit’s front panel. The GTX 23/ GTX 33(D)(ES)(H) software version is displayed on the remote screen of the controlling LRU GTN) Startup/Self-Test Page.

This Service Bulletin authorizes this software version in the applicable LRU(s). The installer or TC/STC holder (if any) must determine applicability and provide for airworthiness at the installation level in accordance with FAA requirements.

PURPOSE

This Service Bulletin incorporates new unit Software Version 7.04 for GTX units. Software Version 7.04 incorporates the below functionality.

  • Ensures proper function of devices connected to the GTX via RS-232
  • Ensures proper initialization of standby mode at power-on when an external standby input is us

The following two items were incorporated in GTX Software Version 7.03 (which is now obsolete), and are also included in GTX Software Version 7.04.

  • Ensures Flight ID changes are properly transmitted to ATC
  • Decreases the time needed to communicate small changes in the horizontal radius of containment.
COMPLIANCE

Mandatory: This Service Bulletin is mandatory only for GTX units with SW v7.01/7.02/7.03 installed. This Service Bulletin must be accomplished by August 15, 2015 or the next scheduled service interval; whichever occurs first.
